Dr. Cardona has been with Allergy and Asthma Associates of Maine, since 2006. He received his medical degree from The University of Maryland, and completed a pediatric internship and residency at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. He then completed a three year pediatric and adult Allergy and Immunology fellowship at National Jewish Health hospital in Denver, Colorado, frequently voted #1 Respiratory Hospital in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report. While at National Jewish, he was fortunate to train under some of the leaders in the field, with a strong focus in both pediatric and adult allergic and immunologic diseases. 

Dr. Cardona has received national recognition for basic science research in atopic dermatitis (eczema), and has published in various medical journals on eczema and asthma. He has also been frequently voted by his peers as a "top doctor" in the State of Maine in allergy and immunology. His special interests include atopic dermatitis, food allergy, and asthma and he is bilingual in both Spanish and English. Dr. Cardona has happily made Maine his home and is honored to contribute to the health and well-being of the community. He sees patients from newborn to 65 years of age.



Dr. Chilmonczyk has been a partner with Allergy and Asthma Associates since 1989. A graduate of Smith College, she attended the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and graduated with highest honors. She then went on to residency in Pediatrics at Maine Medical Center followed by a 3 year fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at the National Jewish Hospital and Research Center. She was an award recipient and was on the teaching staff at the University of Colorado College of Medicine. Since returning to Maine she has been active in statewide initiatives to improve quality of care for patients with asthma, allergy, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She is a former board member for the American Lung Association of Maine and former Director of Cellular Immunology at the Foundation for Blood Research. From 1993-2004 she was the residency program director in Pediatrics at Maine Medical Center, and from 2000-2005 also served as the Associate Chief of Pediatrics. In addition to her current work with Allergy and Asthma Associates she serves as the medical director for the AH! Asthma Health Program at MaineHealth and Maine Medical Center. Dr. Chilmonczyk sees infants, children, teens and adults (up to age 50 yrs). Her interests include asthma, nasal and ocular allergy, food and insect allergy, and primary immunodeficiency. 



Dr. Musmand has been practicing in Maine since 1994. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University and New York University Medical School. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at University of California at San Diego (UCSD). He completed his fellowship in pediatric and adult Allergy and Immunology at Tulane University in New Orleans. Dr. Musmand has received awards from the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, the American College of Chest Physicians and the Maine Lung Association. He was director of the Maine, Ah! Asthma camp and received recognition for his volunteer work at the Street Clinic for individuals without health insurance for more than ten years. He was involved and remains active in studies of biologics in severe asthma. He sees patients age 12 and up. His interests include chronic urticaria (hives), sinus disease, and severe asthma.



Dr. Chelsea Michaud grew up along the seacoast of New Hampshire and southern Maine before pursuing her undergraduate degree at the University of New Hampshire, receiving a B.S. in biochemistry. Honors in major and graduating Magna cum laude; she received her medical degree from the University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM) in Biddeford, Maine, where she was elected into Sigma Sigma Phi, an honor service fraternity requiring both excellence in academics as well as community service. She completed her Internal Medicine residency training through Care New England at Kent Hospital in Warwick, Rhode Island, in affiliation with UNECOM and The Warren Alpert School of Brown University, followed by a pediatric and adult Allergy / Immunology Fellowship through University Hospitals at Cleveland Medical Center, in Cleveland, Ohio, in affiliation with Case Western Reserve University.

Her interests include asthma, allergic rhino conjunctivitis, contact dermatitis, eosinophilic disease, food allergy, urticaria/ angioedema and immunotherapy, however she is comfortable treating all realms of allergic and immunologic diseases. She is board certified in both internal medicine and allergy/ immunology.

Dr. Michaud has presented at multiple national medical conferences, including as a keynote speaker at local, state and national levels.  She has published one-of-a-kind case reports in multiple medical journals, and was a lead investigator for research at her fellowship institution regarding bronchiectasis and primary immunodeficiency, which was published in Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

Dr. Michaud proudly served in the Maine Army National Guard for 8 years prior to joining Allergy and Asthma Associates of Maine in 2017.  She looks forward to many years of continued service to the people of Maine and New England, seeing patients from age 2 to 102.



Denise graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1992 from Messiah College, Grantham, Pennsylvania. In 1994, she started working full time as a nurse at Allergy and Asthma Associates. Since she was always wanting to learn more, she was encouraged by the physicians to return to school and in 1999 graduated from the University of Maine with a Master of Science degree in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner and has continued to work in that role at our practice. Denise enjoys seeing patients of all ages.



Elaine is originally from Maine. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science of degree in Biology, from the University of Southern Maine, in 1995 and a Master of Science degree as a Physician Assistant, from the University of New England, in 2001. She lived in Georgia for 5 years and worked in Family Medicine at a rural health clinic but returned to Maine to raise her children and be surrounded by family. She initially joined Allergy and Asthma Associates as a PA in 2011. After 2 years at Maine Medical Center working in Gastroenterology, she rejoined Allergy and Asthma Associates earlier this year. She enjoys seeing patients ages 2 and up. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her 2 children, hiking, enjoying the beach, boating and exploring all Maine has to offer.
